Princess Kate’s actions appear to contradict a claim made by Meghan Markle about life in the UK.
After stepping back from Royal Family duties, Meghan and Prince Harry settled in Montecito, California with their two young children. Their son, Archie, is set to start school for the first time this year – something Meghan suggests would have been problematic if they had stayed in the UK.
In an interview with The Cut in August 2022, Meghan suggested that school pickup and drop-off in the UK would involve a royal photo call with a press pen of 40 people, which she found problematic.
“Earlier in our conversation about her goals for the life she’s creating here, she’d remarked upon how, if Archie were in school in the UK, she’d never be able to do school pickup and drop-off without it being a royal photo call with a press pen of 40 people snapping pictures.”
“‘Sorry, I have a problem with that. That doesn’t make me obsessed with privacy. That makes me a strong and good parent protecting my child,’” Meghan said.
However, royal enthusiasts have noted that William and Kate regularly participate in their children’s school events, behaving like ‘a normal mum and dad’ at Lambrook events.
Hello! magazine reports that both Princess Kate and Prince William actively participate in all school events, even “queuing up” for the tombola during a fundraising initiative.
”I saw them queueing up for tombola tickets like everyone else. They really act like a normal mum and dad,” the source said at the time.
“They’re lovely kids,” the source noted. “Charlotte is so kind and friendly and the other children adore her.
“She’s kind to the kids in younger years and she’s very popular. George seems like a nice boy, too, and little Louis just has so much energy.”
