The Duke of Sussex, scheduled to visit the UK in May to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of his Invictus Games, appears to have definitively bid farewell to his royal life, according to royal author Tom Quinn.
Quinn, speaking to The Mirror, revealed that Harry was “furious” and left “in tears” after his father’s “vindictive” decision to evict him from Frogmore Cottage.
As a gesture of his feelings towards the decision, Prince Harry changed his primary residence from the UK to the US, with the move retroactively dated to June 29, 2023, the exact eviction date.
Quinn noted that this eviction was the “last straw” for Harry, who was ousted alongside his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
Despite meeting his cancer-stricken father in February, which sparked speculation of a reconciliation, Quinn suggested that Harry’s departure to Montecito marks his final departure.
Prince Harry has reportedly been seeking advice from close friends in the UK following the backlash to his recent comments about his father, as per another royal author.
These friends, part of his support network in Britain, include old schoolmates, former attendees of ‘Club H’ (the brothers’ basement disco at Highgrove), military comrades, and royal mentors and aides.
According to Robert Lacey writing in The Daily Mail, these friends have been “sympathetic listeners” to both brothers in recent months, refraining from taking sides.
Harry’s recent calls to his friends reportedly reflect his melancholy following the negative reception of his criticisms against his father.
Harry has returned to the UK for the unveiling of Princess Diana’s statue, where he will stand alongside his brother William next week.
Last month, Harry accused his family of neglecting his mental health issues and blamed Charles for his suffering in a revealing documentary.

In candid moments, Harry discussed his ongoing therapy and his decision to distance himself from Britain and his family to prevent passing on generational grief.
He also spoke about Meghan’s mental health struggles, sharing her suicidal thoughts with him and the clarity of her decision.
Harry criticized his father, stating, “My father used to tell William and me, ‘It was like that for me, so it will be like that for you.’ That doesn’t make sense. Just because you suffered doesn’t mean your children have to suffer.”

Despite making explosive claims, Harry and Meghan now reportedly seek a quieter life following the birth of their second child, although Harry faces criticism for oversharing.
Lacey’s book, Battle of Brothers, details the feud between William and Harry, including William’s alleged anger over Meghan’s treatment of palace staff.
The Duke of Sussex, 36, has returned to the UK for next week’s Princess Diana statue unveiling.
