Meghan Markle’s former bodyguard Steve Davies served her during her early days with the Royal Family.
Meghan Markle’s former bodyguard, Steve Davies, has spoken out in defense of the Duchess of Sussex amid past bullying allegations. In an interview with In Touch magazine, Davies described Meghan as “a good person” and expressed sympathy for the pressures she faced during her time as a senior member of the British royal family.
Having worked with Meghan after her marriage to Prince Harry, Davies refuted claims that she was unkind to her staff. He described her as “warm and considerate,” noting that she treated everyone with kindness, from charity workers to dog walkers and cleaners.
Davies also shed light on the intense media scrutiny Meghan endured, recalling how drones and paparazzi would follow their every move, which he referred to as a “nightmare.” He shared that the constant surveillance left Meghan feeling paranoid, as the couple struggled with a lack of privacy during their royal duties.
Davies says Meghan wanted to do normal things like go grocery shopping. “She was putting things in the cart while I pushed it around the store.” “She really liked that,” he remembered.
Also, Meghan has talked about how hard it was to go out as a royal before, saying, “I couldn’t call an Uber to the palace.” You couldn’t just leave.
She talked about how the Royal Family felt about going on trips and said, “People within The Firm would say, ‘No, you’re oversaturated, it would be best for you not to go out.'” “Well, I haven’t been outside in months,” I say.
When Meghan Markle married Prince Harry in 2018, she became a member of the Royal Family. After that, they stopped working as royals in 2020 and moved to the US, where they now live with their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
