Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, and her daughter, Princess Lilibet, shared a tender moment during their first trip abroad following their resignation from royal duties.
Motherhood has its challenges, and Meghan Markle is experiencing them firsthand.
During her and Prince Harry’s three-day tour of Nigeria on May 10, the Duchess of Sussex couldn’t resist sharing a sweet conversation she had with their 2-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet, while visiting pupils at the Lightway Academy.
Meghan told a kindergarten class, “Our daughter, Lili, she’s much, much smaller than you guys,” according to People. “She’ll turn three soon. A few weeks ago, when she looked at me, all she could see was the reflection of my eyes. Then she said, ‘Mama, I see myself in you.’”
“Now, she was speaking quite literally,” the 42-year-old acknowledged. “But I interpreted those words differently. I thought to myself, ‘Yes, I do see myself in you, and you see me in you.’”
Seated next to Harry in the classroom, she told the pupils, “As I look around this room, I see myself in all of you as well.”
The pair, who are also parents to 5-year-old Prince Archie, joined the children in singing and dancing lessons and played games with them throughout their visit. Meghan added, “That’s Lili’s favorite class,” according to the publication. “Maybe it’s all the hopping around.”
Although Meghan and Harry prefer to keep their personal life private, they often give brief glimpses into their family of four.
In February, the Duke of Sussex said on Good Morning America, “The kids are doing great. They’re growing up like all kids do—quite quickly.” “They both have an amazing sense of humor and make us laugh and keep us grounded every single day, like most kids do,” the 39-year-old continued. “I’m just really grateful to be a father.”
