Despite their noble royal lineage, Prince George and Princess Charlotte have very ordinary career dreams.
Members of the British royal family have their own career aspirations. Prince George, next in line for the throne, has expressed a desire to become a police officer, while Princess Charlotte wishes to be a nurse.
This is quite feasible, as many royals have held ordinary jobs before undertaking royal duties. Prince William served in the Royal Air Force before becoming a helicopter pilot for East Anglian Air Ambulance, and Princess Kate worked part-time at Jigsaw after university.
Prince Harry, George and Charlotte’s uncle, served in the army for ten years, and Queen Camilla previously worked as a receptionist and secretary.
In 2018, at an event at Kensington Palace, Prince William shared that Prince George “absolutely loved” police work, noting that “George is obsessed with police… cars, toys, everything.”
At the event, Police Commissioner Jayne Richardson explained to William the need for more officers in the area, joking: “We’re recruiting, so if George and Charlotte want to…?”
This is not the first time Prince William has spoken about his son’s love for police work. During a trip to Helsinki in 2017, he sent a handwritten letter to Santa Claus, asking for only one Christmas present: a police car.
Meanwhile, Princess Charlotte wants to become a nurse. Her dream was sparked after hearing Prince William explain the work that NHS staff do. According to New Idea, a source close to the Royal Family said Charlotte has told her parents that she hopes to become a nurse in the future.
The source added: “Charlotte is obviously just a child but Will and Kate are very proud of their daughter. She is a thoughtful girl and knows what she wants. So they wouldn’t be surprised if Charlotte actually pursues nursing when she grows up.”
