It’s hard to stay out of the spotlight when you’re part of the royal family, but one teenager has managed to do just that.
James, Viscount Severn, the son of Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, has just turned 17 and is breaking away from the typical royal life. Born on December 17, 2007, by C-section at Frimley Park Hospital, James was initially eighth in line to the throne and was the youngest grandchild of the late Queen.

13Although he is now 15th in line and often seen at major royal events, not much is known about him. However, reports from Tatler suggest that James was one of the Queen’s favorite grandchildren.
Royal author Phil Dampier told Fabulous that, “Edward and Sophie have purposely kept him out of the limelight. But if James or his sister Louise ever wanted to take on royal duties or get involved in charity work in the future, I’m sure there would be a place for them, especially with the monarchy going through tough times with illness, scandals, and Megxit, leaving them a bit short on the ground.”
Dampier also mentioned that James used to be quite shy, but in the past couple of years, he’s grown into a confident young man.
